USA Today Quotation Regarding Her Appearance in Playboy
Wikipedia Entry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shelly Jamison (b.1962) is a former television news reporter from Phoenix, Arizona, who gained nationwide popularity as a Playboy magazine cover model, and the sideline reporter on the 1989 souped-up roller derby TV series RollerGames. Jamison majored in broadcast journalism at Arizona State University. She is the daughter of nationally-recognized restaurant critic Elin Jeffords, and has a son, Jake, born June, 1988, and a daughter, Kiley, born in 1991. Her husband Ron is a Deputy Chief with the Phoenix Fire Department.
Jamison appeared clothed on the cover and nude inside the July 1989 issue of Playboy magazine.
She was hired for RollerGames in May 1989, after producers David Sams and Michael Miller saw her picture in a USA Today story about the controversial Playboy appearance. As sideline reporter, Jamison interviewed the primary stars of the show such as:
- the late Ralphie Valladares,
- Georgia Hase,
- the Icebox, Robert Smith
- Bill Griffiths, Jr., and
- the "T-Bird Twins" Jennifer & Kristine Van Galder.
Jamison is now a Captain with the media relations unit of the Phoenix Fire Department.
